DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Dr. Martin Plávala\, U Hannover\, Germany\, Dr. Ren
 é Schwonnek\, U Hannover\, Germany\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSystem-agnostic black box
methods in quantum information include contextuality\, communication matr
ices\, device-independent cryptography\, and any other approach to quantum
information where quantum devices are described as uncharacterized black
boxes with inputs and outputs. Some of these approaches\, such as contextu
ality\, were developed to address problems in foundations of quantum theor
y and they are currently finding their way towards applications in quantum
information. Others were already developed with applications in mind. This
seminar will bring together the experts in various flavors of system-agno
stic methods from both academia and industry\, together with early-carreer
researchers and PhD students. The goal is to discuss and compare the vari
ous methods\, and to encourage cross-pollination of ideas\, as well as to
discuss recent theoretical progress and applications of these methods in q
 uantum computing\, quantum key distribution\, and others.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\
n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe conference language will be English. The Wilhelm and
Else Heraeus-Foundation bears the cost of full-board accommodation for all
  participants.\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://indico.we-heraeus-stiftung.de/event/54/
