 ds\, and layer-by-layer materials have emerged as promising materials in b
 iomedical and engineering applications. The conference will bring together
  experts from the fields of bioinspired and naturally occurring materials 
 with zwitterionic key building blocks used to tailor the properties of syn
 thetic bioinspired materials and provide an overview of the research state
  of the art and latest developments on this research topic. \n\n\n\n\nThe
  topics include bioinspired and zwitterionic materials\, surfaces and nano
 particles\, materials synthesis and characterization\, applications in med
 icine\, biosensors and cell culture\, applications in nanomedicine and nan
 odiagnostics\, technical applications like protective coatings for ocean a
 nd freshwater applications\, membrane technology\, construction\, energy r
 esearch\, and pharmaceutical applications like controlled drug delivery. 
 \nThe conference will cover fundamentals on the physics and physicochemica
 l properties of the materials up to applied and translational research. Th
 e participation of young researchers is encouraged\, and a young scholar p
 oster price will be awarded.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe conference language wi
 ll be English. The Wilhelm and Else Heraeus-Foundation bears the cost of f
