DESCRIPTION:Speakers: PD Dr. Axel Pelster\, RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau\, P
rof. Dr. Carlos Sá de Melo\, GATEC Atlanta/USA\n\n\n\n\n\nSince the first
experimental realization of Bose-Einstein condensation in ultracold atomi
c gases in 1995\, there have been several substantial breakthroughs. Today
\, systems of bosonic or fermionic quantum gases allow for an unprecedente
d high level of experimental control concerning all ingredients of the und
erlying many-body Hamiltonian. Therefore\, ultracold atomic or molecular q
uantum gases are considered to be ideal both for quantum simulators and qu
antum computations. Thus\, they are best capable to simulate difficult pro
blems in quantum many-body physics as they occur in condensed matter physi
cs and other fields of physics and at the same time allow for developing a
rchitectures for quantum computers\, which will ultimately surpass classic
al computers. In response to the occurrence of many new research directions
in recent years\, it is highly desirable to give a coherent overview over
the diverse facets which are now appearing\, and to reflect upon the futu
re perspectives of the field. Thus\, the seminar follows the interdiscipli
nary concept in bringing together experimental and theoretical scientists\
, who investigate the properties of ultracold quantum gases from different
points of view\, to exchange opinions\, discuss problems\, and disseminat
e new ideas. On the one hand\, invited plenary talks by 25 selected leadin
g international experts will guarantee a high scientific level for the sem
inar\, and will provide its main backbone. On the other hand\, all other p
articipants will be given the opportunity to present their current researc
h work within a high-class setting through shorter contributed talks or th
rough posters\, thereby generating a forum for identifying the most promis
ing current trends and future perspectives.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe conferenc
e language will be English. The Wilhelm and Else Heraeus-Foundation bears
the cost of full-board accommodation for all participants.\n\n\n\n\n\nhttp
